The Issue
The spider mite has always been a threat to cotton
production. But this so-called secondary pest has
become even more troublesome since 2005 when it
began to flare in large numbers in Mississippi.
Now entomologists are identifying large numbers
of mites across the Belt. It will take a proactive
strategy to control this insect in future years.
