Western Hemisphere Sourcing Fair on June 2-4 in Cancun,
Mexico. The meetings facilitated the development of business
relations to increase U.S. cotton yarn and fabric exports to the
The event brought together 11 mills, 8 U.S. retailers, one European
retailer, 9 Latin American retailers and 43 manufacturing companies
from Colombia, El Salvador, the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Honduras,
Mexico, Nicaragua and Peru.
The Sourcing Fair included a conference session with a panel of
experts who addressed the cotton price situation, the Cotton LEADS™
Program, and the U.S retail and apparel outlook. Following the
seminar, the U.S. mills and retailers held two days of private
meetings with Central American, Mexican, and Andean textile and
apparel executives, in order to discuss business opportunities.
