Americot Breeding Program Provides High Performing NexGen Varieties

With the cotton market this challenging, growers need solid, high-performing varieties. That’s what NexGen® delivered in 2025 – and there’s so much more to come! We are proud to share the latest varieties our breeding team has developed and excited about what we have in store for the future.

Yield is our number one priority when developing new varieties – it’s what sets the best apart from the rest. While maximizing yield is paramount, we also place strong emphasis on other attributes that contribute to a variety’s success on your farm. Fiber quality, notably staple length, has been a hallmark of the Americot® breeding program for years, and our varieties are amongst the best in the industry. More recently, we expanded our focus to include the development of high performing varieties that carry multiple native traits that provide resistance/tolerance to diseases and nematodes. Combining all these attributes into one varietal package is not an easy task, it requires a great deal of time, expertise, and precision. But our breeding team has done just that. We have bred and developed several new varieties – with many more in the near-term pipeline! – that will provide not only peak yield potential, but also outstanding fiber quality and host plant resistance across all maturities and trait platforms (XtendFlex® only, Bollgard® 3 XtendFlex® and ThryvOn®).

At Americot, we are dedicated to delivering the best varieties that bring performance and value to the American farmer. These new varieties highlight our drive for excellence, and as we look to the future, our commitment to our growers does not change. Our goal remains the same: to provide industry leading genetics in high-performing varieties, and to support the American cotton farmer with exceptional people bringing knowledge and value to your farm.
