The Texas Cotton Ginners’ Association has canceled its annual Gin Show planned for April 8 and 9 in Lubbock, Texas, because the venue in which the event was to be held is closed to outside events through April. The Lubbock Memorial Civic Center is currently conducting COVID-19 vaccine clinics.
“We hope this gives everyone the chance to pivot and adjust your plans moving forward,” TCGA wrote on its website. “As stated in the January newsletter, we had asked the city of Lubbock to give us an answer on the availability of the Civic Center by this Friday, so we were able to get an answer sooner than expected.
“We would like to thank our exhibitors for hanging in there with us through this process. We sure hope to see you for a gin show in 2022. Navigating meetings and shows through the pandemic has been challenging and frustrating. Most of our contracted exhibitors from 2020 had committed to booth space for 2021.”
The association still hopes to hold a business and membership annual meeting consisting of a hybrid format (in-person and virtual) at the Overton Hotel & Conference Center in Lubbock April 8 or 9.
TCGA’s summer membership meeting is scheduled for June 27-29 at the Omni Barton Creek Resort in Austin.
